MEET NICK!

So, after 25 years of working within the Cambridgeshire accountancy recruitment market, I finally decided to take the plunge and establish my own recruitment business. A business which will reflect my own values: honesty, integrity, relationship driven and simplicity. Values upon which I have built my professional reputation.

 

My recruitment career began back in June 1998 with a privately owned accountancy recruitment company where I progressed to Business Manager of the Cambridge office.

Following the sale to a global recruitment firm and the inevitable movement towards a KPI, rather quality driven culture, in 2004 I moved to an early stage privately owned recruitment consultancy. Here, I was responsible for the mid-market accountancy desk and subsequently, the qualified accountancy desk which encompassed both contingency recruitment and search and selection campaigns. I enjoyed 17 years contributing to their growth and success before moving to another early stage business in 2021.


I have built and maintained an enviable “black book” of contacts and candidates across the Cambs area and have partnered with a vast range of businesses from, owner-managed companies through to PE/VC backed and AIM/FTSE listed organisations, spanning a wide variety of sectors.


I love the entrepreneurial, innovative and vibrant Cambridge economy and I have an absolute passion for recruitment. I gain immense satisfaction in partnering with clients and candidates, supporting them in achieving their goals, be they an individuals’ career progression or the strengthening of an effective finance team.


For me, effective, successful recruitment is a simple process: it is based upon open and honest communication, the sharing of ideas and solutions and building a true business partnership. Talking, but more importantly, listening!
It’s not just about identifying and introducing the right candidate for the right opportunity though: I also provide advice and consultation on CV building and the building and structure of an effective and efficient finance department. I like nothing more than sitting with candidates to understand their career aspirations and with clients to get to know their businesses. It’s just as well that I love coffee!


Fundamentally, recruitment is a people business, that’s why I love it.
